Experiences
Adventures for every age
Africa is a wonderful classroom for all ages. We design family trips with child-friendly camps, private vehicles, sensible travel times and a mix of wildlife, beaches and hands-on culture, so parents relax as much as the kids do.
Traveling in Africa as a family creates memories that last for generations: the first elephant, the thrill of a lion roaring in the night, learning to bake bread in a Moroccan kitchen. With the right planning, it's also relaxed and surprisingly easy.
Many safari camps welcome children, with family tents, junior ranger programs and flexible mealtimes, and a private vehicle lets you set your own pace and take breaks whenever you need. South Africa's malaria-free reserves in the Eastern Cape and North West Province are a great choice for young children, while Kruger, Kenya's Maasai Mara and Tanzania's Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater suit older kids.
Some activities have minimum ages. Walking safaris often require children to be at least 12, and sometimes older, and gorilla trekking starts at 15, so we match experiences to your children's ages.
Beach time is the perfect counterbalance. Mauritius has calm lagoons and excellent family resorts, and the northern beaches of Zanzibar allow swimming at most tides. In Morocco, kids love camel rides in the Sahara, cooking classes and the buzz of the souks, and Egypt's pyramids and temples bring history lessons to life. South Africa's Garden Route offers penguins, whales, canopy tours and easy hikes.
We think carefully about flight times and jet lag, choose family suites or interconnecting rooms, keep driving days short and build in downtime. We'll also flag health considerations such as malaria early, and point you to our entry requirements guidance and your doctor for advice.
Tell us your children's ages and interests, and we'll design the trip around them, whether you're traveling with toddlers, teenagers or grandparents. Our Cape Town + Kruger and Serengeti + Zanzibar journeys adapt beautifully for families, and our page for families has more ideas.
