Traveling as a family in Africa is about shared firsts: the first giraffe, the first taste of a new food, the first night under a sky full of stars. It's also about careful planning, because the right pace, rooms and activities make all the difference between an exhausting trip and a magical one.

Every age, every stage

Toddlers, teenagers and grandparents all want different things. Younger children love short game drives, pool time and hands-on activities, while teens are ready for walking safaris, surfing, sandboarding and gorilla treks. Multigenerational trips need comfortable vehicles, accessible rooms and flexible days, so everyone can join in or rest as they wish.

Family-friendly destinations

South Africa is a natural choice, with excellent infrastructure, malaria-free safari reserves and the beaches and adventures of the Garden Route. Kenya and Tanzania offer classic safaris with family-friendly camps and combine easily with the beaches of Zanzibar or the Kenyan coast. Mauritius has calm lagoons and resorts with kids' clubs, while Morocco and Egypt bring history and adventure together for curious kids.

Safety and health

We choose reputable camps and operators, plan realistic travel days and avoid tiring connections. For young children, we'll point out malaria-free options and encourage you to seek health advice from your doctor and official sources well before you travel, alongside our entry requirements guidance. Activities such as walking safaris, gorilla trekking and some water sports have minimum ages, and we check them for you.

Making it memorable

Some safari camps run junior ranger programs where children learn to follow tracks, identify birds and understand the bush. We can also arrange cooking classes, beach picnics, visits to conservation projects and private guides who love sharing their world with young travelers.
