Eight days from Nairobi to the elephant herds of Amboseli beneath Kilimanjaro, then by light aircraft to a Maasai Mara conservancy for four nights of game drives, guided walks and, in season, the Great Migration. Tailored to you.

"Safari" is the Swahili word for a journey, and Kenya shows why it became shorthand for wildlife travel. It combines two of the country's most rewarding wildlife areas with a sensible pace and a mix of road and air travel, so you spend your time watching animals rather than sitting in a vehicle.

After a night in Nairobi, you'll travel with your driver-guide to Amboseli, famous for its big elephant families and, on clear mornings, the snowy summit of Kilimanjaro rising across the border in Tanzania. Two nights here give you time for early game drives, the view from Observation Hill and a visit to a Maasai community arranged with the community itself.

Next, a light-aircraft flight carries you to the Maasai Mara. You'll stay in a private conservancy on the edge of the national reserve, where land is leased from Maasai landowners and vehicle numbers are limited. Conservancies also allow guided walks and night drives, which most visitors never experience in the busier parts of the reserve. From about July to October, the Great Migration is typically in the area, and your guide will plan days around the Mara River crossings, although no crossing is ever guaranteed.

Every journey is customizable. Use this itinerary as inspiration: we'll tailor the dates, camps, activities, pace and budget around you. Add a dawn balloon flight over the Mara, a night on the Rift Valley lakes, a few days in Laikipia for rhino, or a beach finish on the coast. Your travel designer will be honest about seasons, costs and trade-offs, and nothing is booked until you have approved your itinerary and quote.
