Two Coasts, Lagoons & Island Culture
Seven nights on two sides of Mauritius: sunsets beneath Le Morne on the southwest coast, then sunrises over the calm east-coast lagoon, with a catamaran day, Chamarel and Port Louis along the way. A romantic island escape tailored to you.
Mauritius is made for couples who want both beautiful beaches and something to discover. Beyond the lagoons, the island has a rich Creole, Indian, African, Chinese and European heritage, excellent food and green volcanic uplands that few beach-only visitors see.
This journey splits your stay between two coasts so you experience both moods. You begin on the southwest coast beneath Le Morne Brabant, a mountain recognized by UNESCO as a symbol of resistance to slavery, where the sunsets are superb and the lagoon is ideal for swimming and paddleboarding. From here, a private driver-guide takes you to the waterfall and colored sands of Chamarel and the viewpoints of Black River Gorges National Park, and you'll spend a day sailing the west coast by catamaran.
Midway through, you cross the island via the capital, Port Louis, with its lively central market and the Aapravasi Ghat World Heritage Site. You then settle on the east coast, where calm water, sunrise swims and a boat trip to Île aux Cerfs set a slower rhythm for your final days.
Every journey is customizable. Use this plan as inspiration and we'll tailor the dates, hotels, activities, pace and budget around you. Prefer one hotel and no packing? Want a private pool villa, an all-inclusive plan or a dive course? Planning a honeymoon after a safari? Tell us what matters, and your travel designer will match you with hotels whose style suits you, not a one-size-fits-all package.

Sunsets beneath Le Morne
Four nights on the southwest coast below a UNESCO-listed mountain with deep historical meaning.
A day on the lagoon
Catamaran sailing along the west coast with snorkeling stops and lunch on board.
Chamarel and the Black River Gorges
Waterfalls, colored earth, forest viewpoints and a sacred crater lake in the green uplands.
Port Louis and island heritage
The central market and the Aapravasi Ghat, which tells the story of indentured laborers.
Slow east-coast days
Sunrise swims, a boat trip to Île aux Cerfs and time for spa treatments or a private beach dinner.
A starting point, not a fixed schedule — we adjust every day to suit you.
You are met at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport for a private transfer of about an hour to the southwest coast, past sugarcane fields and small villages. Check in, change into something light and watch your first sunset over the lagoon.
A slow day to settle in: swim in the lagoon, try stand-up paddleboarding or book a massage. Fit walkers can climb Le Morne Brabant with a guide in the cool early morning for views over the lagoon and reef.
With a private driver-guide, head into the green uplands above the coast. See the Chamarel waterfall and the layered colored earth, take in the viewpoints of Black River Gorges National Park, and visit Grand Bassin, a crater lake sacred to the island's Hindu community.
Board a catamaran for a day along the west coast, with snorkeling stops, a barbecue lunch on board and time to swim near Île aux Bénitiers. Morning departures may include dolphin watching with an operator that follows responsible viewing guidelines.
Cross the island with a stop in the capital, Port Louis, for its bustling central market and the Aapravasi Ghat World Heritage Site. Continue via the botanical garden at Pamplemousses, known for its giant water lilies, before checking in on the calm east-coast lagoon.
Cross the turquoise lagoon by boat to Île aux Cerfs for swimming and beach time, with a stop at the waterfall on the Grand River South East along the way. The afternoon is yours.
Keep your final full day unplanned. Start with a sunrise swim, then choose between couples' spa treatments, a kayak around the lagoon or another chapter of your book. In the evening, we can arrange a private dinner on the beach with your hotel.
Enjoy a last morning by the water. A private transfer of roughly 45 minutes to an hour then takes you to the airport for your onward flight.
A few of the ways travelers tailor this journey:
Choose a private pool villa
Upgrade to a villa or suite with its own plunge pool for more privacy.
Stay in one place
Prefer not to move? We can base you at a single hotel and add day trips instead.
Pair it with a safari
Mauritius works well after a safari in South Africa or East Africa; flight routings vary by season, and we will find sensible connections.
Charter your own catamaran
Swap the shared cruise for a private charter with a skipper, a lunch stop of your choice and no crowds.
Dive or learn to kitesurf
Add a dive course, or kitesurfing lessons in the windier months off Le Morne.
